Ikebana Workshop
Lily Karmantz
Lily Karmantz, noted Australian ikebana master, will be at the Free Range Studio on April 23rd from 6pm-9pm, conducting an ikebana flower arranging workshop. Her website is www.artislily.com.
This workshop will be in conjunction with Lily’s week-long residency as a visiting artist in the Town of Cary where she will be creating a large ikebana installation in Bond Park.
As Lily explains: “While painting is an expression of art drawn on a canvas with a brush, ikebana is an expression in three dimensions composed of plant materials arranged in a vase. The word ikebana means ‘to make flowers live’.”
During the workshop Lily will explain the principles of ikebana and show participants how to put those principles into practice in their own flower arrangements.
Cost for the workshop including all materials will be $60. Each participant will complete an arrangement to take home. If you are interested, please make your reservations early.
The
class will be limited to 6 people.
